Frequently Asked Questions

Stryten Energy FAQ

Stryten Energy’s batteries are proudly built by our manufacturing teams located at our 11 plants across the U.S. A few of our batteries include foreign components. View a map of our locations.

Stryten Energy provides energy storage solutions for industrial, military and government, essential power, and transportation applications. Our energy storage solutions power everything from forklifts in warehouses and distribution centers to cars, trains and trucks to microgrids and vast telecom networks.

Stryten Energy has more than 100 years of battery manufacturing experience. Our manufacturing expertise and vertically integrated domestic supply chain keep our customers reliably supplied with the batteries they need. We are a technology-agnostic provider, meaning we offer lead, lithium and vanadium energy storage solutions. We also support our customers with our domestic service team, which provides proactive maintenance to keep operations moving.

Battery Technology FAQ

Stryten Energy is the only battery manufacturer that can offer lead, lithium, and vanadium solutions. Each technology has its own unique benefits. As a technology-agnostic solution provider, we work with you to determine the best solution for your specific environment.

Lead is known for its thermal stability, safety, recyclability and domestic manufacturing supply chain. Lithium is known for its high-power density and high cycle life. Vanadium redox flow batteries are known for their low LCOS (Levelized Cost of Storage), infinite duration and domestic sourcing.

Transportation Batteries FAQ

Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFB), like a standard flooded battery, are “aqueous” batteries, thus the “flooded” terminology. Carbon additives in the battery plates result in improved charge acceptance and performance over standard flooded batteries. Basically, it’s more durable, has a longer life span, and stores more energy than a standard flooded battery.

An enhanced flooded battery (EFB) with its modern technology gives you ample power for advanced features, superior heat protection, cold-weather starting power, and longer battery life that will far outlast standard flooded batteries.

Also referred to as a SLI (starting, lighting, and ignition) battery, the primary purpose of a starting battery is to provide enough power to start your engine and power the vehicle’s electrical systems.

A dual-purpose automotive battery provides both starting power and deep-cycle capabilities. A dual-purpose battery is ideal for vehicles with advanced safety features and infotainment accessories that require additional power. Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFB) and Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) are examples of dual-purpose batteries.

Material Handling Battery FAQ

Yes! Stryten Energy offers comprehensive services for our industrial batteries to ensure your fleet operates at full capacity at all times. Our team of trained stored energy experts provide planned maintenance, repair services, predictive service, installations, de-installation, recycling, application audits, power studies, training, and inspections. Additionally, we have a customer service team located at our headquarters in Alpharetta, Ga., that can assist you over the phone or via email.

There are many benefits of both lead and lithium-ion batteries for material handling applications. Lithium often wins for speed (faster charging, opportunity charging) and efficiency in heavy-duty operations, but advanced lead (e.g., tubular or flat plate) provides better value for lighter/medium applications with proven longevity and lower upfront cost.

Essential Power Battery FAQ

Through our BESS and other essential power battery solutions, energy can be stored and discharged to support grid reliability. Batteries are charged during low-cost off-peak hours and discharged during expensive peak hours to decrease electricity costs. This capability enhances energy efficiency and contributes to the stability and reliability of the power grid. Similarly, in case of an extended power outage, a BESS can ensure the continuous operation of critical applications.

It depends on duration and specific customer needs—VRFB for medium-to-long duration (e.g., 6+ hours), advanced lead for short-duration cycling or resilience, and lithium for high energy density and high cycle life; Stryten offers all three for custom solutions.

Also referred to as BESS, Battery Energy Storage Systems enable the storage and distribution of power from all energy sources. BESS can be used for energy cycling and resiliency applications. They are an optimal solution for industrial facilities, corporate or school campuses, EV charging, and much more. Please visit our Essential Power website for more information.

With skyrocketing energy demand, BESS can ensure energy availability for industrial environments, including data centers. BESS can store all energy sources like wind and solar, as well as hydrocarbons, to provide energy when needed. BESS are a critical solution for modern energy management.

Network Power Battery FAQ

Batteries play an important role in supporting utility, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), telecom, data centers, etc. Network power batteries offer maximum efficiency and reliability. When your primary power source fails, network power batteries provide the back-up you need.

Network power batteries and backup power batteries are not the same. Network power batteries are used to provide power to network equipment during outages, while backup power batteries are used to provide temporary power during power disruptions.

An Absolyte battery is an advanced 2-volt battery designed for telecommunications, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and renewable energy systems. They are Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries that utilize Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology.

They are known for their high capacity in a compact footprint, making them ideal for applications where space is limited.

As a VRLA battery, it is sealed and does not need water added periodically.
