Stryten Energy Welcomes 2025 Summer Interns

Stryten Energy is excited to share that our Summer 2025 internship program has officially started. We welcomed 25 interns this year, with 18 working at our headquarters in Alpharetta, GA, and 7 working at our plants in Columbus, IN, Salina, KS, Lancaster, PA, and Muncie, IN. Our college interns have come from many schools from all over the U.S., from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, to Auburn University in Auburn, AL.

During this 12-week program, interns will gain valuable experience and skills while working on a variety of different tasks and projects. Our interns will be working in various departments, including Plant Operations, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, Marketing and Communications, Human Resources and Accounting.

“At Stryten Energy, our interns get valuable experience that will prepare them for their future careers,” said Julie Simons, Senior Manager, Digital Marketing and Communications. “In addition to learning specific skills related to their career interests, they learn the invaluable business skills that can only be gained from a real office setting.”

Interns Lindsey Powell, Ali Lotfi, Evan Pool and Nitya Kottapally sat down to answer a few questions about their first week.

What drew you to Stryten Energy and this internship program?

Lindsey: “A friend from college told me that her mom works at Stryten Energy and was looking for students who are majoring in Marketing to apply for their summer internship. I looked into the program and was immediately drawn to what seemed like a phenomenal internship program that appeared to be growth-focused with hands-on experience.”

Ali: “A broad answer would be for the experience, but to be more specific, working with energy. I’m involved in an engineering club at my school where we design and build a hybrid car (Formula SAE) for a yearly competition. In the club, we work with and build a high-powered battery ourselves, using technology similar to Stryten’s. Although I’ve always avoided the electrical aspect, getting involved at Stryten would allow me to work on my weaknesses and allow the chance to improve my electrical skills. In just one week here, I’ve learned a lot in terms of how all the technology works.”

Evan: “Aside from the prime location of the office being only 30 minutes away from my house, one thing that drew me here is that during my interview, everyone on the panel seemed really nice, and I really liked that about Stryten. When I looked through the company website, everything the company stood for looked great!”

Nitya: “I knew I wanted to explore working in the supply chain field, whether it be in procurement or logistics. Given Stryten’s specialization in batteries, I am eager to gain in-depth knowledge of this specific industry. I’m excited to learn from my team about various aspects of the supply chain, including the components that go in a battery. Additionally, I appreciate that Stryten’s headquarters has a more intimate feel, which allows me to build meaningful connections. I value getting to know the people I’ll be working with every day.”

Are there any skills, knowledge or experiences you’re hoping to gain here?

Lindsey: “I hope to gain insight into corporate marketing beyond just social media. By the end of my internship, I aim to have a more well-rounded understanding of the career field and a clearer picture of the responsibilities of someone in corporate marketing.”

Ali: “I want to gain real, hands-on experience with testing and design work. At my school’s engineering club, I’ve done a lot of testing, but due to budget constraints, much of the testing we do is low-tech. I’m eager to work with more specialized equipment and accurate measuring tools. As for design work, it’s challenging to improve because it is not something that can be taught; it’s something you must acquire through practice. In the engineering club, the designs are often predetermined, which limits opportunity for independent experimentation and innovation.

Evan: “I’m hoping to gain more real-world experience in the logistics field, particularly with interactions between carriers and understanding the entire process. I also want to experience utilizing the software the company uses for coordinating the movement of batteries and battery parts around.”

Nitya: “I want to gain more supply chain knowledge and experience in an office environment. I’m curious about how people communicate and manage their tasks efficiently, even with numerous meetings and responsibilities. I aim to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for my future career. Additionally, I want to learn how to collaborate effectively in a corporate setting so that I can support my colleagues while also completing my own work.”

What are you most excited about for this internship?

Lindsey: “I’m most excited to experience a new division of marketing and connect with professionals who are actively working in the field. The idea of witnessing what my chosen career path might look like is both inspiring and reassuring.”

Ali: “I look forward to putting everything I’ve learned in school to practice. It’s interesting because, in class, there’s always a right and wrong answer to every problem. However, in real life, there might not be a definitive answer. You might discover something new and adapt accordingly. I’m excited see how my skills measure up in practical scenarios.”

Evan: “I’m excited to build relationships with fellow interns and with my co-workers in the logistics department. I’m also eager to gain real-world experience and tackle real-world problems outside of the classroom.”

Nitya: “I’m most excited to gain knowledge and maturity this summer. In just one week here, I’ve already learned more than I have in my last two years of college.”

As we progress through our summer internship program, we look forward to seeing our interns learn and grow.
